Multi day Berber Villages, GreenValleys and High Atlas Mountain Passes trek

This is a five-day trek in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We trek through lovely scenes along valleys. The course takes us through vivid Berber villages and over decent mountain passes.

The trek will be upheld by a Berber group including a mountain direct, a cook and muleteers for gear.

The evenings will be spent in the gites (Berber homes).

Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech through Imi oughlad via Tizi n'tachte to Tiziane

We leave Marrakech early, driving southwards through the Moulay Brahim gorge and upper valleys to land at the higher lower regions of the western High Atlas Mountains and our trailhead of Imi oughlad (1450m) with the jbel Toubkal 4167m, Aglzim 3650m and Aksoual 3847m, approaching before us. Here, in Imi oughlad, we meet with our muleteer group. We set off for a 2 hour acclimatization hike , passing by cornfields woods pine and juniper to the Tiz n’tachete (2000m),where we will stop to think down on the Imlil and Ait oussaden valleys before proceeding for another 30 minutes to Imi n’ifri and our field picnic .Afterwards, we walk south-west for around 2 hours and a half to assif n’ ait oussaden and the red dirt terraced village of tiziane ( 1750 m )where we spend the night in a bivouac or a gite.

Day 2Tizziane through Tizi n'taghrhourte to D’knt.

Our morning hike takes us up along the Assif n’ait oussaden valley , passing through the walnuts groves, up to Tizi n’taghrhourte (1995m ) ,at that point at long last to Assaka spring, where we will stop for our picnic break following 2 hours and a half generally simple walking.Our evening’s hike brings us down along the edges of the timberland until the point when we achieve the Berber village of D’knt (1870m) or Agouns n Assoul where we feast and rest in a bivouac or gite.

Day 3D’knt through tizi n'tagdalte to tizi oussem

We hike up through groves of walnut trees, fields of corn and barley. We may have a chance to see some Berber peoples working in the fields. We navigate the Tizi n’Tagdalte, diving among the juniper trees till we go to a little spring set, where we enjoy a break for our picnic. After that, we withdraw for a little stream toward the start of the valley of Assif n’Ait Oussaden, from where we enter the village of Tizi Oussem (1850m) and walk to the Tamsoult village for our camp or gite. The entire trek takes about 6hours.

Day 4Tizi oussem through Tizi M'zzik to Imlil

We trek to Azib Tamsoulte, where we visit a little waterfall and take some photos. We return to cross the Tizi ‘n Mzik pass (2,500m) and walk down to Toubkal valley at Imlil (1,900m), where we eat and spend the night in our Guesthouse Dar Adrar.

Day 5Imlil through Tizi n Tamatert via Ikkiss then Agersioual to Marrakech

It is a 6 to 7-hour trek past Berber hamlets and two mountain passes. The course is round, including however much landscape and normal excellence as could reasonably be expected. We walk eastbound from Imlil (1740m) along the Tamatert Valley before turning northward through the pass Tizi n’Tamatert (2279m) and down via of the Berber village of Tinerhourhine into the Imenane valley. We walk along this valley, through almond, walnut and apple groves and terraced Berber hamlets to the villages of Ikiss and up to Amssakrou. Here, we take our outing lunch, enjoying the superb view of Jbel Oukaïmeden crest (3268m). We return westbound via of the pass Tizi n’Aguerssiouâl, at that point through the Assif n’ Aït Mizane Valley and back to Imlil.
Next the walk proceeds with donkey trails through the Tizi n’Aguerssiouâl Pass (1,767m) towards the village of Aguerssiouâl in the Assif n’ Aït Mizane Valley (2,664m) and afterward south back up the valley towards the villages of Taddart and Aït Souka where the walk travels east back to Imlil, from where we drive to Marrakech toward the evening.
