This is an ideal trek which includes 8 days and 7 evenings in the Atlas Mountains just as in the desert. 4 days Atlas Valley Trek will take you through the Azzaden valley and over nice mountain passes which allows you to discover the day by day life of the Berbers. The 4 days desert tour will enable you to set aside enough time to visit loads of spots on the way, for example, Ait Benhaddou kasbahs and drive along the soil street of Assif n Ounilla and visit the popular Glaoui kasbah in Telouet.

Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech to Imlil

You will be picked from the Marrakech airport and then transferred to the residential area of Imlil in the Atlas Mountains. Your first night is spent in a friendly family run guesthouse.

Day 2Imlil through Tizi n Mzik to Tizi Oussem

After meeting our guide and muleteer and loading up our sacks, we move up towards the pass of Tizi n Mzik (2489m), which offers staggering mountain views. From here, the trail descends into the terrific Azzadene valley, referred locally as the valley of shading. After a journey of about 5 hours, the walk finishes in the little Berber village of Tizi Oussem where we go spend the night in a gite. If we feel lively, we can visit D’Irhoulidene waterfalls, which requires additional time but is worth the effort. The trek takes 6-7 hours walking including the waterfalls.

Day 3Tizi Oussem to Tinzert

The present trek includes 5-6 hours walking. We set off walking through the Azzadene valley and the traditional Berber mountain villages. The view behind you is of the peaks of the High Atlas, while the valley ahead offers delightful landscapes with a rushing mountain stream

encompassed by rich walnut groves. As you descend, you will eventually enter the Ouirgane National Park, a secured region of natural magnificence. We go spend the night in Tinzert, a rustic Berber village.

Day 4Tinzert through Imi Oughlad to Imlil

This 4-hour trek includes fewer steep inclines and descents, so we can truly appreciate the Mediterranean-esque landscape. We walk towards Imi Oughlad where we eat before bidding a fond farewell to our cook, guide and muleteer. A short time later, we drive to our accomodations in Imlil where we can appreciate a hot shower followed by an evening relaxation.

Day 5Imlil through Tizi n Tichka via Ourzazate to Dades Gorges

It is a 6hours driving voyage. We leave Imlil at 9.00am and take off over the Atlas Mountains, rolling over the alluring Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass, going through bunches of wonderful Berber villages. Landing at the desert, we’ll see riverside desert oases and barren slopes spotted with kasbahs (fortified dwellings that house families and their livestock). En route, we have the option to either take a break and visit the Ouarzazate Film Studios or stop for a hike. When we reach Dades Gorge, we can go for a climb, or unwind at our hotel.

Day 6Dades gorges through todghra Gorges to Merzouga

After breakfast, we transfer from the Dades Valley to Todra Gorges, which rises up to 300 meters in a narrow valley with palmeries and Berber villages. Here, we can go for a hike to explore the palmery, a green desert oasis brimming with expansive date palms. After lunch, we set off for the portal village of Merzouga to get supplies for our desert trip. From that point, we directly set for a Kasbah to get our camels. At sunset, we begin a 90 minutes camel ride to a Berber camp where we appreciate a traditional Moroccan supper, and rest under the stars or in tents at a desert camp. (Totaldriving time 5hours)

Day 7Merzouga through Alnif via draa valley to Ait benhaddou

We get up right on time to enjoy the sunrise dawn and afterward come back to the kasbah by camel. We have then an opportunity to freshen up and make the most of our morning meal. A short time later, we head out to the desert for a drive to Ait Benhaddou, where we go spend the night in a hotel. (All out driving time 5 – 6 hours)

Day 8Ait benhaddou through Telouet Kasbah to Marrakech

It is 4 hours driving adventure. We travel along the Ounilla Valley to the disintegrating kasbah of Telouet , that was at one time an important stop for merchants. We explore the Kasbah after that and after lunch we head back over the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass to Marrakech.
